Curtain drivers, curtain motors and a roller-shade driver cover the usual window treatments. What fits depends on the hardware already at the window — a curtain track, a rod, or a roller blind on a bead chain — together with the weight and width of the fabric and whether mains power is available nearby. The Smart Curtain Controller sold in Singapore is the wired ZNCLDJ11LM, which runs at 14 cm/s from mains power rather than a rechargeable battery.
Match the motor to the window covering
Full-height fabric curtains, an existing curtain track and a beaded-chain roller blind need different motors, so the first decision is what is already at the window. For fabric curtains on a new motorised track, the Smart Curtain Controller is the wired ZNCLDJ11LM: a mains-powered motor that moves up to 50 kg per track at 14 cm/s, with a pull-to-start override that works even without power. The Curtain Controller C3 is the heavier-duty option for wide or weighty curtains — 2 N·m of torque, an 80 kg limit, 26 dB at its lowest speed and infinitely adjustable travel speed. Both are sold as motors; the Aqara track is cut to length and supplied separately.
If the curtains already run on a rod or a U- or I-rail, the Curtain Driver E1 clips on without tools and pulls the fabric along the existing hardware. It runs from a 6000 mAh rechargeable battery (USB-C, up to a year per charge under Aqara's conditions), carries up to 12 kg, and comes as a Rod Version for rods and rails or a more affordable Track Version for U- and I-rails. A centre-opening pair normally needs two drivers, one per panel, and S-fold tracks are not supported.
For a roller blind on a bead chain, the Roller Shade Driver E1 drives the existing 3–6 mm plastic or metal chain from a wall mount fixed with screws or the included adhesive pad. It is a retrofit for the blind you have, not a motor inside the roller tube, and it only supports beaded-chain blinds — not venetians or spring rollers.
Power, pelmets and the renovation stage
A wired track motor needs an unswitched power point near the motor end, positioned so the connector, motor release and isolation stay reachable after the pelmet or carpentry goes in. A concealed socket is no use if the pelmet stops the motor being unplugged and serviced. The battery-based drivers avoid electrical work in the right situation, but think about how you will reach the USB-C port to recharge: the Curtain Driver E1 can also run on constant power where a socket is available.
Day and night curtains may need separate tracks, corner and curved tracks need product-specific radius and drive checks, and a hand-operated curtain that already sticks at a rail joint will not become reliable once a motor is added. Commission with the final fabric fitted — an empty track does not prove the finished curtain will move correctly. Hub, app and automations
All four are Zigbee 3.0 devices and need a compatible Aqara hub. Through the hub they join Aqara Home scenes and automations — curtains that open with a morning routine, close when the room heats up, or run on a schedule — and can be exposed to Apple Home and, depending on the hub, other platforms. Installation and who does what
Physical curtain work and app configuration are separate tasks. Track motors are installed with the track and the power point at the motor end, and the clip-on drivers are a five-minute retrofit with no electrician needed. Do I need to replace my curtain track for Aqara smart curtains?
Not always. If the curtains already run on a rod or a U- or I-rail, the Curtain Driver E1 clips onto the existing hardware without tools. Full-height curtains on a new motorised track use the Smart Curtain Controller or the Curtain Controller C3, both of which run on an Aqara track cut to length for the opening. S-fold tracks are not supported by the Curtain Driver E1.
Do Aqara curtain motors need a power point?
The track motors do. The Smart Curtain Controller and Curtain Controller C3 run from mains power and need an unswitched power point near the motor end that stays accessible for isolation and servicing after the pelmet is fitted. The Curtain Driver E1 and Roller Shade Driver E1 run from built-in rechargeable batteries charged over USB-C, and the Curtain Driver E1 can also be left on constant power.
Do I need an Aqara hub for smart curtains?

Can Aqara motorise a centre-opening curtain pair?
Yes. With the Curtain Driver E1 a centre-opening pair normally needs two drivers, one per panel. For a new motorised track, the opening style is specified with the track, so tell us whether the curtains open from the centre or draw to one side when you enquire.
Will the curtains still work during a power cut or without internet?
The Smart Curtain Controller can be pulled by hand to start, stop or move the curtain, and that works even without power. The Curtain Controller C3 can also be moved manually in a power outage. Automations and app control run through the Aqara hub, so they depend on the hub being powered and, for remote control, connected.
Which roller blinds work with the Roller Shade Driver E1?
Roller blinds operated by a 3–6 mm plastic or metal bead chain. The driver mounts on the wall with screws or the included adhesive pad and moves the existing chain through one of four included adapters. It does not fit venetian blinds, spring rollers or blinds without a chain.
