Configure the Aqara system
Aqara Home
Add and configure Aqara devices, create scenes and automations, manage rooms, review device status and access product-specific settings.

Apps, ecosystems and Matter
Configure the Aqara system in Aqara Home, then connect compatible devices and functions to Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and supported Matter ecosystems.
Platform strategy
Aqara Home is used to add, configure and maintain Aqara devices. A compatible platform can then provide a second interface for shared control, voice assistants and cross-brand routines.
Starting with the preferred platform helps determine the right hub, controller and product combination before installation.
Control platforms
The platform choice affects available interfaces, automations, voice control and compatible third-party devices.

Apple devices and Siri
Bring compatible Aqara accessories into the Apple Home app, include them in Apple scenes and automations, and control supported devices with Siri.

Google devices and Assistant
Control compatible Aqara devices in Google Home, include supported functions in household routines, and use Google Assistant for voice commands.

Echo devices and Alexa
Connect compatible Aqara devices to Alexa, control supported functions through Echo devices and include them in Alexa routines.

How Aqara connects
Many Aqara sensors, switches and controllers communicate with an Aqara hub over Zigbee instead of joining the home Wi-Fi individually. The hub then connects to the home router through Wi-Fi or Ethernet, depending on the hub model.
Inside the rooms
Sensors, switches, lighting controls, curtain motors and other compatible child devices.
Control centre
Receives Zigbee signals, coordinates compatible devices and runs supported local automations. It bridges the Zigbee network to the home network; it is not the Wi-Fi router.
Home network
Connects the hub, phones and other network devices inside the home, and provides the route to the internet.
Beyond the home
Supports features such as remote access, push notifications, firmware updates and compatible external platforms.
Phone at home
The phone joins the home network through Wi-Fi. Available local controls depend on the device, hub, app and platform.
Phone away from home
Remote access and notifications require the relevant accounts, services and internet connections to be available.
This is the common Zigbee path, not every Aqara connection. Selected products and hubs also support Thread, Matter, Bluetooth, direct Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet. Supported local functions vary by model and configuration.

Matter explained
Matter allows supported devices and ecosystems to communicate using a common standard. It can make cross-platform control easier, but it does not make every feature identical in every app.
Aqara supports Matter in several ways: selected hubs can bridge compatible Aqara Zigbee devices, selected Aqara products connect through Matter over Thread or Wi-Fi, and compatible Aqara controllers can bring supported third-party Matter devices into Aqara Home.
Matter connection paths
These are the three main paths. The exact controller and supported functions must be checked against the chosen product and ecosystem.
Device → compatible Aqara hub → Matter ecosystem
A compatible Aqara hub can bridge supported Zigbee devices into a Matter platform. Available device types and functions vary.
Device → Thread-enabled Matter controller
A Thread device requires a compatible Matter controller that also provides Thread border-router capability.
Device → compatible Matter controller
A Matter-over-Wi-Fi product connects through the network to a compatible controller in the selected ecosystem.
Before buying
Confirm the complete path before choosing products for a multi-platform home.
01
Confirm the exact model and connection mode.
02
Check whether an Aqara hub or bridge is required.
03
Confirm the chosen ecosystem has the right Matter or Thread controller.
04
Verify which controls, sensors and scene actions are exposed.
05
Update the app, hub and device before commissioning.
