About Aqara
Aqara is a smart home brand founded in 2016, its name drawn from the Latin “acutulus” (smart) and “ara” (home). The range covers sensors, wall switches, door locks, cameras, curtain motors, lighting and the hubs that hold them together, built to work as one system rather than as separate gadgets that happen to share a logo.
Most Aqara devices use Zigbee rather than joining the home Wi-Fi individually, which is why the hub matters: sensors and switches sit on a low-power mesh the hub coordinates, and supported automations can then run locally instead of depending on an internet connection. Battery devices are designed around that low power draw — the Motion Sensor P1 is rated for up to five years on a single set of cells.
To serve as many customers as possible, Aqara products support all major platforms including Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Devices are added and configured in the Aqara Home app, and compatible models can then be exposed to those platforms and to other Matter ecosystems, either natively or by bridging through a compatible hub. Which devices and which functions appear in a given platform depends on the product, so each product page states what it supports.
Since 2017, Aqara has opened more than four hundred 4S Aqara Home stores globally to provide more personalised smart home solutions. In 2019, Aqara entered the U.S. market. Today Aqara’s online devices have covered 192 countries and territories, serving more than 2 million customers.
Aqara continues to expand its global footprint in the United States, EU, Russia, China and the rest of the world, and aspires to bring smart home technology to every household around the globe.

Aqara’s product design has been recognised by the iF Design Award, Red Dot, the Good Design Award, IDEA, the Golden Pin Design Award, the German Design Award and the Design Intelligence Award. The range shares one visual language, so a sensor bought today still looks like it belongs beside a switch installed several years ago.
Two routes to installation
Battery devices — sensors, buttons, cameras and the hubs themselves — mount with adhesive or a single screw and pair in the Aqara Home app, with no wiring involved.
Anything on mains power or in a door is different work. Wall switches, dimmers, in-wall relays, curtain motors and door locks are installed by our team or a licensed electrician; several locks are sold with standard installation included in the price, and others offer it as a paid option.
One system across the home
Aqara’s portfolio includes 100+ connected products. A door sensor and a mortise lock with face recognition are set up in the same app and can appear in the same automation. That is the practical argument for staying inside one range: a single hub, one set of automations, and scenes that move lighting, curtains, air-conditioning and locks together rather than an app for each.
