Aqara smart home automation responding to activity at home

Aqara automations

Automate lighting, curtains, air-conditioning and security.

Use sensors, schedules, device status and conditions to control lighting, curtains, air-conditioning, security and more automatically.

Automation logic

How Aqara automations are structured.

Every automation starts with an event, checks any required conditions, and runs one or more actions.

This structure keeps the response specific. A motion sensor can turn on a light only after sunset, or an air-conditioner can start only when the room is both warm and occupied.

Trigger

When

A person arrives, motion is detected, a lock changes state, or a scheduled time is reached.

Condition

If

After sunset, while someone is present, above a set temperature, or only when the home is in Away mode.

Action

Then

Control a light, curtain, air-conditioner, notification, alarm, device or complete scene.

Everyday automations

Automation examples for Singapore homes.

These are written with real devices and values so the logic is clear rather than abstract. The triggers, conditions and actions actually available in a given home depend on the products, hub and app installed.

Arrival after dark

When
The front door is unlocked
If
It is after sunset
Then
Turn on the entrance and living-room lights and close the living-room curtains.

Night-time pathway

When
Motion is detected in the corridor
If
The home is in Good Night mode
Then
Turn the corridor lights on at 10% brightness, then off two minutes after the corridor is clear.

Empty-room energy control

When
The presence sensor reports the room empty
If
It has stayed empty for 15 minutes
Then
Turn off the lights and the air-conditioner.

Warm occupied room

When
The room temperature passes 28°C
If
Someone is present in the room
Then
Switch the air-conditioner on and set it to 25°C.

Door left open

When
A door or window is opened
If
It is still open five minutes later
Then
Send a phone notification naming the door that is open.

Water-leak alert

When
A leak sensor under the sink detects water
If
At any time
Then
Send an immediate alert and sound the alarm on the hub.

Around the home

Products that work together in automations.

Aqara automations can coordinate several product categories so the result matches the way a room is used.

Good automation design

Keep manual controls alongside automations.

Reliable automation includes clear conditions, sensible delays and an obvious manual control.

  • Start with repeated actions that happen every day.
  • Use presence and room conditions to prevent unwanted triggers.
  • Keep wall switches or wireless controls available for overrides.
  • Test each routine with the people who use the room.
  • Review device, hub and platform compatibility before installation.

Plan your Aqara smart home

Plan the routines before choosing the devices.

Share your floor plan and the actions you want to automate. We can translate them into the sensors, controls, hubs and Aqara products that will carry them.
