Apple Home Key requires an Apple 2-in-1 Matter controller and a Thread border router. Matter controller support covers Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa at launch; Samsung SmartThings is planned to follow. Not suitable for metal gates — please verify your cylinder is compatible before purchase. Battery life varies with usage and settings; SG availability of specific integrations may vary.
Frequently asked questions
Will the U200 fit my existing door?
The U200 is a retrofit lock: it mounts over an existing euro-profile or select Scandinavian cylinder (one with an emergency function) without any drilling, so your current keys keep working. It is not suitable for metal gates, and the existing lock should turn smoothly by hand before you automate it. Do I need a hub for the U200?
Not for everyday use — fingerprint, PIN, NFC and app unlocking over Bluetooth all work at the door. For remote access and platform automations over Matter you need a Thread border router: an Apple home hub with Thread for Apple Home and Home Key, or an Aqara Thread border router hub such as the M100, M200 or M3 for the Aqara Home app.
Does the U200 work with Apple Home and the iPhone Home app?
Yes. The U200 connects natively over Matter via Thread, so it appears in Apple Home — as well as Google Home and Amazon Alexa — for lock, unlock, status and automations. You can also hold an iPhone or Apple Watch to the keypad to unlock with Apple Home Key, which keeps working even when the phone's battery is flat.
Is installation included in the price?
Not for the U200. The A100 and D100 include standard professional installation in their price, and several other locks (D200i, U300, U50, U100) offer it as a selectable option on their product page. The U200 is designed to fit over your existing lock without drilling, so many doors need no specialist work at all.
