Which Aqara Smart Lock Fits Your Door?
Choose an Aqara smart lock by door construction, mortise, deadbolt, retrofit cylinder, latch and gate fit—not by unlock features alone.
Whether a smart lock fits depends on your door, the lock already in it and the space around it. Aqara's locks come in quite different forms. The A100 and D200i replace the whole mortise lock inside the door. The U200 sits on the inside and turns the cylinder you already have. The U300 is a lever handle lock for a single-latch door, and the U400 replaces a tubular deadbolt. You can't swap one for another just because their feature lists look alike.
So measure and photograph the whole door before you think about fingerprint readers or Apple Home. A lock with every feature you want is still the wrong lock if its lock body, backset (the distance from the door edge to the centre of the lock), bolt position, handle swing or outside keypad won't fit your door.

Mortise, deadbolt, latch or retrofit: what your door has now
A mortise lock has a large lock body set into a pocket cut into the edge of the door. A tubular deadbolt uses a round hole through the door and a smaller hole for the bolt. A cylindrical lever lock combines a latch and handles around a round hole. A retrofit motor usually fits on the inside of your existing cylinder and turns it for you.
The door and frame matter as much as the lock. A timber door can be prepared differently from an aluminium-framed glass door, a fire-rated door or a welded metal gate. Old holes may not line up with a new lock's plates, and a digital lock can hit a gate, door closer, frame, grille or nearby handle even when the lock body itself fits.

Aqara A100: a mortise lock with pull-down handles
The A100 has an outside keypad and fingerprint reader, lever handles and a multi-point mortise. You can open it with a fingerprint, PIN, NFC, Apple Home Key, the app or a key; exactly which depends on how it's connected and set up.
It's a strong choice for a main door that can take its mortise, especially if you like a normal pull-down handle. The installer has to check the door edge, backset, thickness, existing cut-outs and where the strike sits. Replacing another digital mortise lock isn't automatically a straight swap, because mortise sizes and panel shapes differ.
Everyday entry works without a hub. An Aqara Zigbee hub adds remote access, automations and other smart home platforms, but it makes no difference to whether the lock fits.
D200i for automatic locking and face recognition
The D200i is also a mortise lock, but its motor throws the bolts by itself when the door closes. The outside panel adds 3D structured-light face recognition, alongside Apple Home Key, PIN, NFC, Bluetooth and a mechanical key as backup.
Where you stand at the door matters. The front panel has to see your face at a workable distance and height, and a narrow corridor, a gate or a recessed door can get in the way. The large front and back panels also need flat surfaces and mustn't hit a gate or other hardware.
Get it if automatic locking and hands-free entry are worth a bigger lock replacement. It isn't simply an upgrade from the A100: your door still has to match the D200i's own mortise and template. Unlike the A100, its price doesn't automatically include fitting; we sell it with or without installation.
Keep your existing lock with the U200 or U200 Lite
The U200 mounts its motor on the inside of a compatible cylinder, and an outside keypad gives you fingerprint, PIN, NFC and Apple Home Key entry. Your original lock stays in the door and the motor turns it, which can save cutting a new mortise or changing the outside handles.
Whether it works depends on the type of cylinder, how the key works, the shape of the thumb-turn, the mounting surface and how much force it takes to pull back the latch or bolt. Check whether a key left in on the inside stops one working from outside, whether the cylinder has an emergency function, and whether you already have to lift, push or pull the door to lock it.
The U200 Lite works the same way without the U200's full outside fingerprint keypad. It's for people who mainly want to lock and unlock by app, Bluetooth, Matter or voice and keep the outside of the door looking as it is. For full Matter control, both need a compatible Matter controller and Thread border router.
U300 for doors with a single-latch lever
The U300 is a lever lock built around a single latch rather than a multi-point mortise. The fingerprint reader is in the handle, and you can also use a PIN, NFC, Apple Home Key, Bluetooth or a key. It connects to other platforms through Matter over Thread, using compatible equipment.
It can suit an office, storeroom or side door. The installer will check the holes through and into the door edge, the backset, the door's thickness, which way it opens and whether there's room for the outside keypad. It isn't suitable for metal gates.
A single latch is a different mechanism from a mortise with several bolts. Choose the U300 because it fits the door and how you use it, not because its unlock options match a bigger front-door lock.
U400 for doors with a tubular deadbolt
The U400 replaces a supported tubular deadbolt and adds an outside keypad, fingerprint reader, key and Matter-over-Thread control. What sets it apart is Ultra-Wideband unlocking as you approach with a supported iPhone or Apple Watch, which uses range and direction rather than simple Bluetooth proximity.
It's right for a door that already has, or can properly take, the specified deadbolt hole, backset and strike. It doesn't replace a handle latch, so you still need separate pull or lever hardware where the door needs one. The U400 Kit we sell includes a Hub M100, which can provide the Thread border-router and Matter-controller functions for an Aqara Home setup.
If you want the Wallet features, check the current phone, watch and home-hub requirements. UWB and Home Key shape how the lock feels day to day, but the deadbolt preparation decides whether it fits at all.
Smart locks and the metal gate outside your door
Many Singapore homes have a timber main door with a metal gate in front of it. The two swing through the same space, so a digital lock on either one can hit the other. Measure the gap between them when closed, the handle swing, how far each keypad sticks out, the gate bars, hinges and strike, and note which one opens first.
The B50 is a deadbolt-style lock we sell that can go on a metal gate, but only with a suitable gate lock box and checked clearances. Other models may be unsuitable even if a bracket could physically hold them. The gate fabricator or lock installer should take responsibility for how it's built.
You may not need smart locks on both. Two separate locks mean more steps to get in, more batteries to change and more to think about in an emergency. In some homes, one smart lock plus a well-made conventional gate latch is simpler.
Photos and measurements to send your lock installer
Send these before you buy or anyone cuts the door. A good installer will confirm the model and template, flag any carpentry or metalwork, and tell you which old holes will still show.

Pick how you want to unlock after you know what fits. Never cut a door from a web photo or another model's template.
