What it is
A chemical anchor is a resin that locks a threaded rod or stud into a drilled hole in concrete or masonry. An adhesive bonds two surfaces together; a chemical anchor bonds the fixing along its full length, spreading the load and sealing the hole against water.
CA1400 is a two-component resin packed in a standard-size cartridge, so it fits a normal caulking gun (a heavy-duty gun makes extrusion easier). Each cartridge comes with a static mixing nozzle that mixes the two components as you apply. The nozzle can’t be reused once the resin cures, but the cartridge can, with a new nozzle. We sell replacement nozzles.
How to use it
- Drill the hole for the anchoring rod.
- Clean the hole thoroughly with a brush and compressed air.
- Inject the resin into the hole.
- Insert the rod or stud, using a sleeve in hollow material.
- Leave it unloaded until the resin has cured.
Typical uses
Fixing rebar into concrete, and mounting railings, banisters, shutters, fences, shelves, TV brackets, wall-hung urinals and ceiling-hung loads, including close to edges.
In Singapore, chemical anchors have mostly been used on larger projects. CA1400 makes them practical for smaller contractors too.
