These sealants and adhesives are sanitary-grade, meaning that they are suitable for use in sanitary applications such as in bathrooms and kitchens.

Typically, this means that these products are less susceptible to mould, fungal, and mildew growth; and can stay mould-free for extended periods of times even in hot and humid conditions. Most of these products achieve this by adding a fungicidal and biocidal compound to destroy fungal spores and prevent them from growing.

However, do note that the sanitary formula should not replace regular cleaning of the joint. Excessive contamination, deposits, or soap remnants will still stimulate the development of fungi. This is true for all sealants.
